Alberto Guevara Castro is a Political Scientist, expert in international cooperation and electoral justice. He holds a Master’s in Public Policy and Public Administration from the University of York and a Master’s in International Relations from the Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals. Alberto currently serves as Head of External Relations at the Federal Electoral Tribunal of Mexico and as liaison officer to the European Commission for Democracy through Law. He has been Senior Advisor to the Specialised Prosecutor on Election Offences of Mexico and a consultant for Civil Society Organisations working on civic engagement strategies. As an international public servant, he was a member of the Secretariat of the Global Commission on Elections, Democracy and Security, a joint initiative by International IDEA and the Kofi Annan Foundation. His latest paper on removing barriers to women’s participation in the Mexican Federal Congress is included in Improving Electoral Practices: Case Studies and Practical Approaches, published by International IDEA.
